Hasland

A Brief History of the School...

The Hasland School was founded in 1942 by Muriel Hasland. It has been part of Herne Bay in Kent for over 60 years, teaching many generations of local people at its original Studios in Beach Street.

Setting the pattern for its future, children were trained from 1942 in RAD Ballet (Royal Academy of Dance). Mrs Hasland was also the founder of the RAD South East Region.

The School is now owned and run by her daughter, Jacqueline Cartwright, and in addition to its classical ballet training it now also offers the modern, tap and drama disciplines.

Located in a pleasant setting opposite the town's park, the school has 4 purpose built studios within one building, each having a sprung floor, barres and mirrors. Female and male changing rooms with separate WC's are also provided.

The school has recently published a book detailing its full history which is on sale for £10 plus postage and packaging. For more details or to buy a copy please visit the contact page for our details.
