Festivals...

Choreographic Festivals:

Held annually in the Autumn term, the school encourages pupils from School Year 3, i.e. 8-9 year old and upwards to experiment creatively with music and ideas for solos, duets, group dances, etc. in the various disciplines. This is an important part of dance education which builds on the skills learnt during the structured grade classes.

Experienced dance professionals are invited to adjudicate on the day and give careful guidance to all those participating. Junior and Senior cups are awarded, together with a magnificent trophy given to the most creative dance, in memory of a past pupil, Elliot Gilbert.

Local Dance Festivals:

Thanet and Canterbury Dance Festivals can be entered by any pupil from School Year 6 and upwards who has gained "A" Grades in Ballet, Modern or Tap. It is important for parents and pupils to understand the commitment involved in entering dance festivals and for this reason the school has produced a leaflet giving details of entry and rehearsal fees, and music and costume charges. The school has had some excellent results in recent years, winning many awards and cups at festivals around the South East. At the All England Competition held in London in 2003, the school gained 1st place in the Senior Modern Groups and 1st place in the 13 year olds' Tap Section.
